This page has information on how to use the surgery efficiently and effectively.

In response to feedback from patients we have revised our appointments system. We have to ensure we continue to achieve the government’s “48 hour access” target by providing a significant proportion of appointments as available on the day. We also need to meet the needs of that proportion of our patients who wish to organise their appointments further in advance.
All morning appointments are available prebookable 6 weeks in advance. These are primarily for patients who need to prebook because of transport needs, work commitments or other constraining factors. This is followed by an Open Access surgery - patients can be seen by a doctor if they present between 10.15-11.45am.
Afternoon apointments are either prebookable 6 weeks in advance or telephone slots - the latter become available on the day if unused..
If you are not sure whether you need an appointment with a doctor, you might find it useful to look at the section of our website which gives you “Simple Treatment Advice”.

GOLDEN RULES FOR APPOINTMENTS
If you decide that your appointment is no longer needed, please ring up and cancel so that someone else can have the appointment instead. Even if you phone up just before the appointment we would often be able to fill it.
Does more than one family member need to see the doctor? If so, please make a separate appointment for each person.
If you have several different problems to discuss, please make a longer appointment or separate appointments. Your doctor has only 10 minutes for each routine consultation.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS
Please ensure that if you cannot keep your appointment you ring the surgery to cancel it, we can then offer it to someone else.

We offer Telephone Consultations, as some patients may find this a convenient alternative to attending the Practice. The Receptionist will ask you if the problem could be dealt with on the telephone. If you agree, a telephone appointment slot will be booked and the doctor will telephone you back. Please ensure you are available to take the call.

If you are moving into our area you will need to bring your medical card to reception; we can then process the registration. If you do not have the card you will be asked to complete a form. We need to register you before you can see a doctor or ask for a prescription.
You will then be offered an appointment with a nurse if you wish for a new patient check and you will be requested to see a doctor if you are on regular medication.

Once you have had a test, you will need to call the Practice for the results. You should contact the surgery after 2.30 pm. If you have a specimen you should leave it with your name and a date at the surgery before 11.30am.

Home visits have to be fitted in during the workiing day, unless it is an emergency. Please telephone before 10.30 am if you need the doctor to visit, and only request a visit if you really are too ill to attend the Practice. We can see at least 4 people in the surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit in this rural area, and we have better faciilities for diagnosis and treatment in the surgeries.

We try to give you the best service possible, but recognise that there are times when we don't get it right. If you wish to make a complaint, please ask to speak to Jose Tarnowski, the Practice Manager, if she is available or in her absence, her Assistant, Rita Wyatt.
